Ingredient and Supply spotlight

Ribbon Any colour of ribbon or decorative fabric or plastic flower will do to stick on the front of the straw. You can get this at any craft store or the Dollar store.

Straws Any colourful paper straw will work, I got mine from the Dollar store.

Rice Krispies I prefer using the Kellogs brand as they are light and have not too much crunch.

Mini Marshmallows I prefer to use the mini version from a new pack, as a freshly opened pack melt more easily. Also, the size being small will save you from the anxiety of having them burn or stiffen whilst taking too long to melt.

Ingredients

6 cups of Kellogs Rice Krispies

5 cups of Mini Marshmellows

4 tablespoons of salted butter

2 teaspoons of Vanilla Essence

8 colourful paper straws cut in half

16 ribbons or decorating bows/flowers

3/4 cups of white chocolate

1/2 cup of sprinkles

  1. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Melt butter in a pan on low heat.

  3. Add marshmallows and keep stirring until melted well, around 5 minutes.

  4. Remove from stove, mix in the vanilla essence.

  5. Add rice Krispies, mix well then pour the mixture onto the baking sheet. Press down with another parchment paper over the top and use a rolling pin to flatten out the surface unit roughly 1 inch thick.

  6. Allow to cool for 20 minutes, then cut into strips. that are 2 inches by 1 inch.

  7. Now lets melt the white chocolate chips. In a double boiler, add white chocolate chips and keep stirring until melted, be careful not to get any water in the chocolate or it will seize. You can also use a microwave for this in a wide bowl, stir every 10 seconds until melted.

  8. Use a butter knife to cover the bottom half of the treats and immediately using your hand pour the sprinkles over the white chocolate on all sides until it is covered.

  9. Now using the white chocolate as a glue, put a small amount on the front of the treat and stick the bow/decoration on. Now admire your work!

  10. Allow to dry on parchment paper then store in an air tight container.
